Richard H. Paul

Executive Director

Rich Paul was named executive director of the COS in 2005.  As the president of Richard Paul & Associates, LLC, he provides management services to a number of medical associations, including the state ophthalmology societies in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri and Wisconsin.  Clients also include the American Eye Study Club and the Wisconsin Chapter - American College of Emergency Physicians.  A native of Illinois, he was Manager of State Affairs for the American Academy of Ophthalmology and served as press secretary for US Senator Birch Bayh and Texas State Treasurer Ann Richards.  In a "previous life," he also was a floor trader on the West Coast Commodities Exchange in Los Angeles and worked on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.  Rich finished a six-year stint as a member of the Hawthorn Elementary District School Board in Vernon Hills, the last four years as president
