Graduating with an MD degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, Dr. Palmer completed his medicine internship at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center, Chicago, the next year. His ophthalmology residency at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary followed. After completing his residency, he obtained glaucoma-supspecialty fellowship training at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Boston, MA. While in private practice, Dr. Palmer has continued to combine patient care with an academic affiliation. He is currently clinical assistant professor, Department of Ophthalmology, Northwestern University Medical School, involved in resident education and clinical research. Dr. Palmer is a committee member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology's EyeCare America/Senior EyeCare Program, serves as the academic liaison and a third-party committee member for the Illinois Association of Ophthalmology, and is a past president of the Chicago Glaucoma Society. In addition to enjoying time with his family, Dr. Palmer's avocations include tennis, bicycling, and managing a softball team called the Slammers for children with cognitive disabilities.
