Welcome

Chicago
Ophthalmological
Society

The Chicago Ophthalmological Society is the oldest local ophthalmological society in the United States. For more than 100 years, our goal has been to provide practicing ophthalmologists with the most current clinical data to enhance their practices, through monthly and annual CME events.

The COS also understands the importance of providing opportunities for interaction between local ophthalmologists in Chicagoland, both in private practice, and academic medicine. We recognize the need and value of professional interaction and discussion and encourage our members to share interesting or difficult cases with each other as well as with invited speakers.

The COS is also dedicated to fostering resident integration in the ophthalmologic community and is proud to offer resident membership as well as recognition for resident academic excellence such as the Beem-Fisher award.

We hope that you will enjoy getting better acquainted with the COS. Should you have any questions or comments, please contact us through the website, or by phone.

Message from the President
Welcome to the website of the Chicago Ophthalmological Society. The mission of the Society is to promote excellence in ophthalmic practice through continuing education in a collegial atmosphere. The COS is the oldest local eye society, having existed for over 100 years. It currently consists of almost 200 members and is governed by a Council consisting of officers elected on a yearly basis.
